Little Mtn Hike

Hiking up Little Mountain is adventurous when you don't pay attention and chat the whole time.

This trail may not look steep but we "huffed" and "puffed" the entire way up. Wouldn't you know when we reach the top we find out that happens to be the name of the trail?!

The view was definitely worth the hard work... Even though we got completely lost on the way back down;)

Last day of 2nd grade

Mother's Day

We had a relaxing weekend in St. George for Mother's Day. Grandpa walker, granny Kate and Grandma Carol all celebrated with us! We went swimming, played on the gold cart, ate yummy treats and Grandpa taught Rylee how to golf! Rylee and grandpa bought Rylee her first set of clubs and shoes and now she's hooked just like him:)

8 is great!

This little girl isn't so little anymore. I blinked and now have an eight year old. Rylee is full of life. She's truly sweet and has the softest heart. Rylee loves her cousins so much and loves to help babysit them. Rylee is a rockstar cheerleader and is one of her teams fliers again for her second year. Rylee is super smart and especially great at math. Rylee continues to love animals and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. Rylee is beautiful inside and out. She's a really good friend and the perfect daughter. This year, Rylee's birthday falls on Easter. She's so excited to spend her birthday with her cousins coloring Easter eggs, going on an egg hunt, hitting a piƱata and eating barbecued salmon:)

California nationals

Hard work paid off at the California cheer nationals! Rylee and her team pulled together and took 2nd which is AMAZING!

We spent a few days at Disney Land
Grandpa Walker and Granny Kate played with us one of the days!

Rylee and her sister Gretchen had quite the fan club follow them to California.
Gran Dad and Gran came with aunt Jojo. Daddy, Heather, Korbin and Jesslyn cheered Rylee and Gretchen on all weekend. Grandpa Walker and Granny Kate were shocked with the "show" Rylee and her team put on for the crowd. Such a fun weekend with people surrounding Rylee with love and encouragement:)

Rylee wasn't thrilled with taking 2nd. She told me 2nd is just the first loser.

After two days of competition we decided to hit up Newport beach and play in the sand. Rylee got an early birthday present... a longboard! She was in heaven and picked it up quickly:)

An afternoon feeding the ducks

Sadly summer is coming to an end. We're trying to take advantage of every last second! After school today we went for a little journey to get some fresh air... And feed the ducks!

Rylee insisted on wearing rollerblades... Only to realize that maybe it wasn't the smartest idea. I'd say a small price to pay for a lesson well learned!
She made it work with what she had, finding a way to still pull the wagon. It sure helped to have a little push from Ava;)
All that pushing wore the spunky girl out! This is where she decided to take a rest. Silly girl:)

Luna Moth Caterpillar

Out for a drive after school today we stumbled upon a HUGE, green, fast crawling, "animal" that the 4 of us were positive we'd never seen before.
Curious as ever we crowded around this crawling friend, examining his every move. Josh was pretty curious, Rylee was totally creeped out, and Ava kept a safe distance away in awe.
Once we caught our green buddy we turned to google for some fast answers. Typing green caterpillar into the search engine an image of the same looking creature popped up. The description referred to it as a Luna Moth Caterpillar.
Slowly Ava became much more brave. Rylee, still completely uninterested.
The Internet provided us with some interesting facts about this Luna Moth. First, it likes to eat leaves. So, leaves is just what he got! Second, once he turns into a moth he'll only live for one week. His main purpose is to reproduce. Third, once he's a moth he no longer has a mouth. he'll eating nothing during that week.

2nd grade spotlight queen

Rylee gets to be the queen of her class for the day! This bag is filled with things all about Rylee. Inside it has a cheer leading trophy, a horse, pictures of her brother and sisters, a snorkel, a pair of ski goggles, and rice crispy treats to hand out to her classmates. Rylee also gets to eat lunch with her teacher and be the line leader. She's very excited!

First day of 2nd grade!

Summer is over, and 2nd grade has officially begun! Rylee was so excited to see all her friends and meet her new teacher, Ms. Rasmussen! Nana is in town for the week and got to join us on her first day adventure! This year Park Lane has a new principal. She came up with a great idea to have all the students strut their stuff down the red carpet on their way inside the school.
